Week 3- Still Life- Light and Shade

This is a still life drawing showing light and shade. A good still drawing would need to demonstrate good composition along with great form, light, color and texture, and by adding these key elements in to a drawing it will give it a 3D feel and depth. When it comes to adding light and shadow, the drawing needs to have Value to describe the light and the grey and dark tones used in this to represent the light and darkness of the shadows. It should also show the form and cast shadows of a drawing.

This drawing shows some very excellent light and shadow as you can see variety of light and dark tones of grey, and uses the Value to describe the light and grey, and dark tones. The Light source can be seen coming from the right as the lamp rays shines on the sheets and describes the form and cast shadows present in the drawing. The form shadows are the darker shadows in the folds of the sheets as it doesn't face the light source and the cast shadows are when the object blocks the light source and creates a casting shadow that can be seen on the top and left hand side of the drawing.

In conclusion, this has been a very successful drawing showing the light and shade of an objects as the light source shines on the sheets and defines the form and cast shadows, and shows the Values of light and the grey and dark tones present in the drawing.
